The Louisiana Décima Project is a digital archiving, music sustainability, and language revitalization program focused on curating, reviving, and sustaining Louisiana’s diverse Spanish-language traditions.

The project began as an effort to digitize and preserve a collection of ethnographic recordings that documented a unique tradition of Spanish-language ballad from southeast Louisiana known as the Isleño décima. Now in its third year, the project curates an extensive and growing collection of audio and video materials, and has expanded its scope to developing music sustainability and language revitalization resources drawing on diverse Spanish-language traditions from across Louisiana. This program is supported by individual donations and grants from the Keller Family Foundation, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, and the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities.
