Archivists at Large

Archivists-At-Large is a dedicated program seeking to work with other cultural heritage institutions, small special collections, community organizations and beyond who are looking for assistance in ongoing projects. With the ability to travel within the Gulf South, we offer short-term collaborations to aid in work related but not limited to: collection processing, digital preservation, initial strategic planning, community archiving, and interdisciplinary teamwork. This is a way to create impactful and accessible work flows in the ongoing goal of making collections accessible and reachable. Through skill-sharing, our team hopes to expand innovative ways to look at preservation through cross-platform engagement.

IPE’s mission is founded in facilitating and continuing engagement of diverse musical traditions, and our work is guided by our dedication to being a resource for education, research, and programming in the Gulf South. With that being said, Archivists-At-Large is our way to extend our knowledge to other cultural heritage institutions that want to connect and work together through short term collaboration projects.

Tunica-Biloxi Tribe

Our most recent work was with the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe at the Cemonia Strother Williams Library and Research Center, where we worked with the staff to begin the initial steps of processing 1 of 2 collections of archival and manuscript materials.

Within 2 days, our team assisted with inventorying, rehousing and creating a recommended processing plan to help guide the work flow for future collections that are acquisitioned.
